Cointelegraph is seeking an experienced, Europe-based reporter with native-level English to strengthen our global newsroom. This role is critical to leading our daily Europe news shift, ensuring fast, accurate and agenda-setting coverage for our international readership.
Responsibilities
- Lead the European news shift, owning the morning cycle and coordinating smooth handoffs to APAC and US teams.
- Consistently break news with original reporting, leveraging on-the-record sources and cultivating new contacts across European institutions, regulators, companies and markets.
- Deliver scoops and exclusives that move the conversation and enhance Cointelegraph’s reputation as the global leader in crypto and blockchain journalism.
- Write sharp, engaging copy in line with AP style, Bloomberg’s four-paragraph lead approach and Cointelegraph’s editorial voice.
- Edit and publish quickly, balancing speed with accuracy and clarity.
- Use data tools and on-chain analysis to verify stories, spot emerging trends and provide readers with evidence-based reporting.
- Create simple but effective charts, tables and visualizations to add clarity and impact.
- Contribute to strategic editorial planning and, within 3–6 months, be ready to step up as Deputy News Editor for Europe.
Requirements
- Native-level English, with proven experience writing for a global audience.
- Strong track record of breaking stories, cultivating sources and delivering exclusives—preferably within finance, technology, or crypto.
- Demonstrated familiarity with AP style, SEO best practices and digital publishing workflows.
- Ability to work independently under deadline pressure while maintaining rigorous editorial standards.
- Comfortable handling fast-moving stories, complex market developments and regulatory updates.
- Based in Europe, with the flexibility to cover early mornings and occasional weekend shifts.
Preferred
- Established source network across European regulators, institutions, banks, exchanges or crypto firms.
- Experience with data journalism or onchain analysis tools (Arkham, Glassnode, Nansen, etc.).
- Understanding of financial markets, digital assets, policy and regulation.
