We are seeking an experienced Head of DevOps to lead and scale our infrastructure and deployment processes across a global media and tech ecosystem. We’re looking for a hands-on technical leader who can own DevOps strategy, streamline CI/CD pipelines, and build a world-class team.
You will work closely with our engineering, product, and security teams to ensure our systems are secure, scalable, and built for growth. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in high-velocity environments, has deep expertise in cloud infrastructure, and enjoys building both tools and teams from the ground up.
Key Responsibilities
- Own production infrastructure end-to-end – Linux, Docker, K8s, networking, security, resilience, cost.
- Audit & modernize our existing Kubernetes cluster; design a roadmap for HA, security, and performance.
- Lead CI/CD evolution (GitLab CI, Helm, Ansible/Terraform), ensuring faster, safer releases.
- 24 × 7 Reliability – participate in an on-call rotation and drive Mean Time to Detect and Mean Time to Repair/Resolve improvements.
- Mentor & up-skill DevOps engineers; set coding, review, and observability standards.
- Collaborate with product & engineering on capacity planning, incident response, and new feature roll-outs.
Must-Have Qualifications
- 5+ years running production Linux systems and containerised workloads.
- Strong experience managing Docker-based production environments at scale, with hands-on exposure to self-hosted Kubernetes or strong readiness to lead migration to it in the near future.
- Deep IaC expertise.
- Expert GitLab CI pipeline design; strong Git branching/release strategies.
- Solid networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, TLS, ingress controllers, Cloudflare, Nginx).
- Hands-on with AWS core services (IAM, S3, SQS; Polly a plus) and multi-cloud DNS/CDN patterns.
- Demonstrated history of mentoring or technical leadership.
- Database clusterisation, including backups and redundancy
Nice to Have
- Observability stack (Prometheus, Grafana, Loki/ELK).
- Security hardening (CIS benchmarks, Secrets management, service-mesh/Istio).
- Experience in media, Web3, or high-traffic real-time dashboards.
- Architecture as code.
