Job Description

Ripple is looking for a Senior. Manager of Front End Engineering to join our Design team. As we scale globally, this position will play an active role in managing and enhancing all of Ripple’s marketing websites. This role reports to the Director of Web Experience and Development and will manage a team of experienced front end developers.

The ideal candidate is a strong leader and communicator who can manage a team of front end and full stack developers. You must have a broad knowledge of web development from the server to the client, and excel in explaining technology to non-technical partners. Specifically, your key cross functional partners will be digital designers, brand designers, integrated marketers, and technical operations.

While this role is managerial, you will be required to develop code and implement features where needed. Supporting your team in a hands-on manner and helping nurture their career aspirations and technical competencies is a soft skill that we are highly interested in.

WHAT YOU’LL DO:

  • Manage a team of senior level, front end and full stack engineers to support multiple web properties and experiences.
  • As the technical leader, you will handle team resourcing, technology decisions, coding guidelines, implementation strategies and mentor/manage team members.
  • Help establish the direction and goals for the front end engineering team in line with Ripple’s company OKRs.
  • Hands on back end and front end coding as needed to support your team.
  • Oversee projects from requirements gathering, technical scoping, time estimation, vendor onboarding, security assessment and development through to deployment.
  • Foster an inclusive team culture, empower, challenge and coach team members to help grow both in skills and career.
  • Partner with design leaders to understand and clarify UX requirements.

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR:

  • 12+ years of full stack web development experience
  • Self-starter who is proactive in finding and correcting issues and inefficiencies
  • Outstanding coding skills in JavaScript, particularly strong experience with JavaScript libraries for web development such as React, Vue or Angular. (8+ years and preferably React)
  • Highly skilled in modern JavaScript (ES6) and CSS, including TypeScript and Tailwind.
  • Deep understanding of complex web applications and how to build integrations with design systems.
  • Experienced in applying design thinking to create thoughtful human centered web experiences.
  • Experience with UI and performance testing frameworks for web applications.
  • Hands-on experience with CMS integrations such as GatsbyJS, WordPress or Drupal. We currently use Gatsby Cloud and Gatsby Builds, so Gatsby experience is preferred.
  • Experience in recruiting engineering talent and building out high-performing teams.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate openly within a fast-moving team and across the organization.
