Elliptic is looking for a Head of Business Development to join our small, autonomous market intelligence team (MINT) which believes in a customer-centric approach to product development. We believe that the fastest route to great products is to involve our customers in every stage of the process, listen to them with empathy, enabling us to fail quickly and cheaply so that we can learn and succeed rapidly.

We want someone who is ambitious, passionate and customer-focused. This is a unique opportunity to champion uncovering and developing new customer relationships globally for a brand new product in what will feel like a startup inside a scaleup. It is an exciting opportunity to be one of the first commercial hires on the ground helping develop Elliptic’s new product offering in the market intel space.

The role is cross-functional and global. It will be part of a small, dedicated Market Intelligence team (MINT) with a lot of independence to move quickly and be experimental, and some collaboration with the wider Elliptic team. As a Head of business development you will be proactively identifying prospective customers and generating qualified pipeline. You will also educate prospective customers about Elliptic’s new value propositions.

What you will do:

  • Join a dedicated cross-functional team tasked with bringing a new product to market and be responsible for the commercial approach end-to-end, working with business leaders, data science, product, and engineers. You will be a business development team of 1 to start with.
  • Understand prospects’ requirements, explore client use cases and identify strong collaborators for product co-creation
  • Proactively search for leads and prospect customers via phone, emails, social media and other outbound sales tactics
  • Identify channel partnership opportunities that will enhance path to monetization and ROI
  • Presenting Elliptic’s MINT value propositions including demo of our solution
  • Identify & qualify sales opportunities and manage the pipeline
  • Work closely with marketing, product marketing, and other team members to create & deliver outbound campaigns
  • Identify and participate in relevant industry events to build relationships & promote Elliptic
  • Build out the wider MINT commercial engine

The MINT team is a new business unit that’s led by one of our co-founders and has been set up to further leverage Elliptic’s data set for crypto trading use cases. It functions as a startup inside a scaleup and is a unique opportunity to be involved in a high growth business from the ground up – all the thrill of building something new, but without the risk of joining a startup that runs out of funding.

Requirements

You’ll be a good fit here if you:

  • Have a deep understanding and experience working as or with traders of traditional asset classes such as equities, FX, commodities, equity derivatives and can apply that knowledge to crypto and crypto related products, speaking the language of our trading & investment customers
  • Are a subject matter expert on crypto assets, the industry, the emerging business models, how it disrupts traditional finance, and subsequently can see where Elliptic’s data products generate most alpha
  • Have sold data or data led products in the past
  • Possess enthusiasm & experience in lead generation and relationship development using multiple mediums
  • Have the intellectual heft to handle a technical domain with demanding customers and act as a thought partner to Product / Tech leadership
  • Bring educational zeal; you engage and empower others with your content and enthusiasm
  • Are a team player and cross-functional collaborator: bridging teams, functions and geographies
  • Have demonstrated success in qualifying leads and building a strong pipeline, especially for new products
  • Are a completer-finisher who can manage opportunities through the sales cycle
  • Have the ability to easily understand and pitch new products and technology, focusing on value statements
  • Have excellent written and spoken communication skills as well as presentation skills, including ability to communicate complex concepts simply to customers
  • Have an entrepreneurial mindset & thrive in a dynamic & growing team

You need:

  • High intellectual curiosity, and ability to deeply understand customer requirements and communicate them back to the internal team
  • Strong outbound prospecting skills, and good knowledge of outbound campaign management
  • Proven track record of generating strong pipeline & new logo acquisition, preferably in a SaaS or fintech environment
  • Strong solution sales skills with knowledge of producing commercial proposals including RFP management
  • Knowledge of the financial markets or digital assets industry
  • Willing to travel, if required
